Whats in my hospital bag?

We are counting the days until i head into hospital to deliver baby number 2, we are currently in the process of discussing if i will be giving birth  or scheduling a cesarean. I will be doing a follow up post letting you know everything that is happening and a 37 week update.

C-section births are not something that I'm fully aware of, I was induced and gave birth to Charlie at 37 weeks and i was pretty well versed of what i needed to take, i actually over packed! I'm hoping i don't have to have a c-section i would be so much more comfortable giving birth and more prepared. But as long as baby is healthy i don't mind whether he is born via a scheduled c-section or if i give birth.

I have definitely still packed too many of certain items but i prefer to have too much then not enough, but i have it more under control this time i still have a vague idea of the unnecessary items i had packed with Charlie. I was in hospital for 3 days, so i have packed enough for the duration of the hospital stay, i'm hoping to only stay in for 2 days but i have a feeling it will be longer.

So what is in my hospital bag? I have added some pictures below so you can see what I'm taking.

For Mum-

The bag i'm using was bought online a few weeks back, i wanted one that wasn't too big but big enough to fit everything in i will be taking a separate bag for baby.

I have packed -

4 nighties - i deliberately bought them several sizes bigger so they are loose comfort and maximum comfort, i don't plan on breast to they are just basic nighties.

A dressing gown- although the hospitals are quite warm, i have chosen a thick fluffy one just in case i do get chilly and to cover up when walking around the ward. I am also packing a light fabric over sized shirt dressing gown for when the hospital is stuffy but to stay covered up during visiting hours!

Slippers- for walking around the ward I've chosen slip on ones for ease of comfort, bending down could be an issue.

7 pairs of massive loose fitting knickers- purposely for comfort, if i do have a c-section i will have no issue with these, they will sit above the scar and are so much more comfortable then the disposable ones they supply.

Wash bag - containing a travel toothpaste and toothbrush, a set of shampoo and shower gel, deodorant, lip balm, tissues, hand and face wipes, a hair brush and clip i will also be taking my makeup bag  but i very much doubt i will use it.

Maternity pads and breast pads - I never needed the breast pads with Charlie and i very much doubt i will need them this time around but its better to have them then not too.

Snacks - i never thought about taking snacks with Charlie and this was something i definitely regretted.

The only other things that will be in my bag is baby's notes, my camera and my iPad to keep me entertained, i have downloaded several books and music!

For baby-

I have definitely over packed for baby buts its better then not having enough i have packed -

20 nappies, 2 packs of baby wipes and nappy bags.

Baby cleansing pads

6 vests

2 sleep suits

3 day time baby grow outfits

2 plain baby grows- i have packed these in a size bigger in case baby is bigger then expected

14 bibs - I'm taking 2 packets, probably way more than i need but just in case, they also co ordinate with his outfit ;)

3 muslin squares

6 pairs of scratch mits

1 blue Cellular blanket and a fancy chunky blanket

i have also packed a lovely light shawl which is white, personalized with baby's name.

and finally his coming home outfit we have gone for a neutral beige velour baby grow with a chunky cardigan and matching hat, this was one of the first baby bits we purchased before we knew the sex and i was sure this was going to be his coming home outfit but i'm definitely in 2 minds whether we should go for similar but in blue, its all so lovely!

My husband will be carrying loose change for the vending machines and car park and will be bringing the car seat up when we are coming home, is there anything i have forgotten or recommend i should take? Do let me know i don't want to miss anything!
